Roger Deakins is best known as a cinematographer, having worked with directors like the Coen brothers and Sam Mendes, but he's taken a few photographs along the way. Some of them are now published in a monograph, Byways, with the black-and-white images covering rural North Devon, the English coasts, and some more distant locales, from 1971 onward - all attesting to his "keenly ironic English sensibility".
