Debbie Hayton in the Spectator reminds us of Stonewall's astonishing change on same-sex attraction:
The takeover of the LGBT+ movement by the gender identity brigade has been breathtaking. Stonewall UK – established in 1989 in response to Section 28 of the Local Government Act 1988 – no longer appears to understand the meaning of same-sex attraction. It defines homosexual as 'someone who has a romantic and/or sexual orientation towards someone of the same gender'. And Stonewall says gender is something 'often expressed in terms of masculinity and femininity, gender is largely culturally determined and is assumed from the sex assigned at birth.'
History has a habit of repeating itself, however, and we would be wise not to forget it. Simon Fanshawe – one of the original Stonewall co-founders recently remarked:
'The way Stonewall is now being led breaks my heart (as one of the co-founders). Instead of propagating this kind of wibbly wobbly wokeness why are they not getting feet on the ground outside schools where lesbians and gays are again being vilified??'
Gender of course is now self-defined, which leads to such innovations as the female penis, and accusations of transphobia against lesbians who seem unwilling to engage sexually with men who've stuck on a wig and a dress and some lipstick.
Plus the new policing of gender stereotypes, which means that any child who steps out of line needs a visit to the doctors asap for some puberty blockers before getting down to some serious medical intervention..."You like boy activities? That kinda means you're transgender".
The implication that there's something wrong with you if you don't comply to all the gender norms also seems to apply to sexual attraction. The level of homophobia has recently been ramping up thanks to the new trans activism:
The most extreme and hateful homophobic abuse that many gay men face today comes not from "conservatives" or "right wingers," but from trans activists. This is a tiny sample of what is happening every day, 365 days a year, across all social media platforms. This is the "queer community" that young gay men are growing up in. This is what they are hearing about themselves....
Perhaps it's all part of Stonewall's grand strategy. Lead the crusade against homophobia, then when that battle seems to be won turn round and promote a viciously anti-gay ideology, then maybe pick up the old reins and reconnect with the gays, then....
It's like a campaigning perpetual motion machine.
