Exciting news from North Korea's official Rodong Sinmun:
The Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House has brought out the enlarged edition Vol. 9 of "Complete Collection of Kim Il Sung's Works", a library of the Juche idea dealing with President Kim Il Sung's works systematically and comprehensively and in chronological order.
The book carries 100 works including historic speeches, talks, concluding speeches and reports made by the President from March to July Juche 36 (1947).
The book contains works dealing with ideology and theory and strategic and tactical policies illuminating the path of the struggle for further strengthening the Party and people's government, laying a foundation of an independent national economy and making a new leap forward in building a thriving, independent and sovereign state after national liberation.
It also deals with important guidelines to be adhered to by the Party organizations in taking measures to develop the Party work and further strengthen the Party ranks organizationally and ideologically and in doing well the party guidance to economic work, and with the idea of founding the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and strengthening the people' government and the tasks and ways for building powerful, modern regular armed forces and defense industry for self-defense.
The book carries some works giving answers to such theoretical and practical problems arising in building a new country as strengthening the training of cadres of the nation, properly doing the work with the bereaved families of revolutionaries, solidifying the ranks of cadres of the trade unions, waging a vigorous tree planting movement involving all the masses and improving news service and agitation.
Well then. Let's hope the book maintains the powerful tradition in Korean revolutionary literature of keeping sentences long, with plenty of clauses which further elaborate on the idea first mentioned in the opening clause, thereby ensuring that the original idea becomes ever more entrenched within the consciousness of the reader as the theme is expanded upon and elaborated, very much in the way that a piece of music takes an original theme which is then embellished and repeated in different formats and combinations, which serves to increase the power of the music and can similarly be a powerful device to increase the power of a revolutionary thought or indeed instruction from a Great or Dear Leader, even if there is a risk, among those perhaps insufficiently devoted to the drive towards a successful and dynamic socialist country, that the original thought that started the sentence may have been forgotten by the time the reader comes in, panting but nevertheless certainly wiser and also older, to the end of the sentence.
Unfortunately it's not entirely clear whether "enlarged" here means that the volume is simply a bigger version of earlier editions, with larger print and coming in at a greater weight, or whether there is in fact additional content. It would be good to know before committing ourselves...
