That would be a cunning plan. It may explain why labour are making zero preparations for a general election in case the government lose a vote of confidence in September. It's almost as if they don't intend to bring the government down. Maybe Jeremy has agreed with Boris that Spring 2020 is a better time for an election?

Stephen Pollard has been saying this too. I'd expect Mr.Corbyn to delay calling a VONC for as long as possible (using the excuse that 'he wants to make sure he wins it' or similar) and signal with a nod and wink to Labour Leaver MPs that he won't mind if they abstain. All parties to this imbroglio are currently in pure posturing and blame-shifting mode, and will be until Brexit happens (and probably for some time after).
