Chicago has very weird fog, coming off Lake Michigan. Downtown, where the skyscrapers are, the fog rolls in off the lake along the streets running E-W, but the height of the buildings protects the streets running N-S. And if you go up to the top of the one of the skyscrapers, it looks like a kind of Belgian Waffle of Fog.
