Not many UK figures make the front pages of Rodong Sinmun, the North Korean official party paper. There is one exception, as we learn in this dramatic piece - DPRK Is Unique Country Standing against U.S.: British Figure:
Dermot Hudson, chairman of the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, made public his travelogues of the DPRK.
He said that he saw the reality of the DPRK which is leaping forward under the wise guidance of supreme leader Kim Jong Un. He went on:
The imperialist and reactionary forces including the U.S. wishing to see socialism of Juche collapse are more viciously applying unreasonable sanctions and pressurizing the DPRK.
However, the DPRK is now achieving great advances in every sphere on the principle of giving priority to self-development.
During my visit, I could see the policies of the love for the people being pursued in the DPRK.
The strategic line of simultaneously pushing forward economic construction and the building of nuclear force is being successfully carried out in the DPRK.
Shortly ago, the DPRK succeeded in a nuclear warhead explosion test.
This was a self-defensive measure for defending the country's sovereignty and socialist system in the face of the UN Security Council's unreasonable "resolutions" on sanctions against it.
The DPRK is, indeed, a unique country standing against the U.S. imperialists' high-handed politics and arbitrary practices.
I am convinced that the Korean people will certainly achieve the final victory under the wise guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
Hudson [that is, Dr Dermot Hudson, President Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK, Chairman Juche Idea Study Group of England, Official Delegate UK Korean Friendship Association, Member International Committee For the Study of Songun Politics] writes about his visit at the website of the Association of the Study of Songun Politics UK (white text on black, of course - always the sign of serious scholarship):
Visiting the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea for the 10th time I was able to travel to places such as Sinchon , Mt Myohyang and the West Sea Barrage thus afforded me with an excellent opportunity of seeing large areas of the countryside on the way . I was also able to walk around Pyongyang at night and see much of the city including pedestrian underpasses.
The US imperialists and all sorts of reactionaries have over the past few years made wild allegations about "human rights violations " in the DPRK and even press-ganged some other countries to pass anti DPRK resolutions in the UN. So where were these giant 'forced labour camps' and 'concentration camps' that the imperialists allege exist in the DPRK ? I could not see such a thing in fact I did not even see one barbed wire fence in the countryside nor large numbers of police or security personnel. It also should be mentioned that the DPRK countryside was free from crop failure, famine . There is also a good level of social equality in the DPRK countryside with no big houses , no big private landed estates (or latifundia ) , no rich farmers or landlords, a genuine peoples countryside , a socialist countryside with the red flag flying high...
That "including pedestrian underpasses" is an intriguing detail. What was he doing in all those pedestrian underpasses in the middle of the night?
Here he is demonstrating last year against the "fascist puppet regime" of South Korea, surrounded by his supporters and admirers - just, you know, to get an idea of the charisma of the man:
Hudson's short book In Defense of Songun has just been published by the appropriately-named Lulu Press. "This books explains the Songun idea and its superiority . It refutes slanders against the Songun idea". So there. Yours for only £5.64.
Well, if he didn't stumble across a death camp during his visit, that myth's put to rest then, isn't it?
