Amazingly, Wanda Jackson is still going strong. This March she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - perhaps with a push from Bob Dylan, who expressed his astonishment in one of his radio shows that she wasn't up there yet. This is from 1958, and features Joe Maphis with the trademark double-necked guitar. Yep, Country meets R'n'B, and Rock and Roll is being born right before your eyes:
Sadly the only live YouTube Let's Have a Party has the lyric "I can do the twist in the middle of the room" instead of "I can shake a chicken in the middle of the room", and thereby loses much of its point.
