Lots of wonderful pictures of steel works, plus the odd coal mine.
The Germans seem to have cornered this area. As I've mentioned before, the masters here are Bernd and Hilla Becher .

Those pics are cold and dead; they convey NOTHING of the reality of steelmaking. The unbelievable power, heat and noise of a melt shop is completely lost. Sorry, as B&W architectural photos they're ok, but that's it.
For the record, I've worked in a smelter, and taken colour shots that make you FEEL the white hot metal.

Well no, I wouldn't claim the photos convey the "reality of steelmaking". I just think they're stunning, but clearly not everyone will agree.
