It reads like an American leftist *wrote* it, at least the part you quote. The rest has enough God babble in it for me to reconsider that, though.

It's difficult to imagine how what kind of mind you'd have to be to see that dude solemnly invoking "judicial due process and fundamental rights", or "sound logic, quest for justice and compassion and empathy for all humanity", without chuckling indulgently. I think it would be the kind of mind that would sigh longingly like a schoolgirl contemplating a movie star, and then go back to congratulating itself on its supremely logical willingness to confront harsh realities and inconvenient truths.
