Not to mention the extraordinary way people in Eastenders confront each other all the time. People are constantly telling each other what they think of one another. This is something that NEVER happens in real life.

How they combine the two - the pointless lying and the upfront confrontations - is the only reason to watch Eastenders. I mean, one moment Dot will lie through her teeth to her husband, the next moment she will gratuously tell the local evil-doer, currently Den, exactly what she thinks of him.

Go figure.

Whether this is true of all soaps is hard to say. It's the only one I see.
