I saw the last two episodes and can't quite understand the appeal.
Specifically, he manages to escape a police cordon after he takes the bomb off? And somehow gets in to the posh girl's flat? He starts to resemble an indestructible super hero!

And as my girlfriend said (she watched it all), she didn't really understand why the secret service were 'in on it' especially if they were going to be handed more power.

Let alone all those evil white middle aged men running around. Partially redeemed by having some baddie women in it, but I'm sure they were corrupted by the patriarchy:)

Well yes - suspension of belief was required. As you say, particularly for that escape after he took the bomb off. But hey, James Bond can do it, so why not David Budd?
