Tuvia Tenenbom doesn't look Jewish, with his blue eyes and light skin. Perhaps that's why so many Germans didn't bother to hide their feelings:
What disturbed Tenenbom most...was the anti-Semitism he discovered among the everyday, supposedly liberal, Germans he encountered. Often, these people didn’t hesitate to state that the Jews controlled the economy or the media. “They like the Jews that were killed during the war, but hate the Jews of today,” Tenenbom said.
His book on the anti-Semitism he found on his travels in Germany has now been translated into German as “Allein Unter Deutschen” (“Alone Among Germans”), and become a Spiegel best-seller.

The Book in English "I Sleep in Hitler's Room" is a great read and an eyeopener on today's Europe, not only Germany....scary!
