I was in North Greenwich yesterday, cycling along the Thames path from Greenwich to Woolwich, and had a vague idea that I might try the new Emirates Cable Car to transport me back over the river. They take bikes, apparently.
It's awfully high, though:
Though well-known as a man of considerable personal courage, I do have a problem with heights. Not today, I thought. On to the Woolwich foot tunnel. Some other day.
Passengers were left suspended in the air when a cable car linking two Olympic venues either side of the Thames broke down.
The Emirates Air Line, which links the O2 Arena in Greenwich and the ExCel exhibition centre, experienced a technical fault at 11:45 BST....
Some passengers tweeted about the ordeal. David Verrall wrote: "Up in the air for 30mins in the heat with no info! Just got down, queuing for refund. Horrible experience."
Another passenger, Alastair Owens, said he was in the air for about 50 minutes in total.
You know, I don't think I'll bother.
Heh! Big girl!
