At last we're starting to see some results from all the work that's been going on north of King's Cross. Granary Square opened earlier this month, with all the barriers finally removed from the steps up from the Regent's Canal. There's still a lot of work to be done, but it's looking impressive:
That's the new Central St Martins site - part of the University of the Arts, London. You can tell because they're doing all these arty things:
Some of the surrounding buildings could do with some cheering up:
But it'll come. And there are fine views over St Pancras and the shed of the Eurostar Terminal:
It's good to have another large open urban space - one of the biggest public spaces in Europe, apparently - but the fountains seem a bit tired to me.
We've already got Somerset House. They don't seem quite to have the courage to leave it as open unadorned ground. Still, they can always turn them off when they host all these exciting cultural events.
