Oh dear. An apology and correction at CiF for an article - or "polemical piece" as they prefer to call it - on Aung San Suu Kyi under the title "Not such a hero after all", which, it transpires "contained a number of errors". Who'd have thought.

I used to tell people writing reports for me that any containing the phrase "a number of" would be torn up and hurled at their heads. If you know the bloody number, tell me it, I would instruct. If you don't, either find it out, or resort to "few", "several" or whatever. But don't write effing Town Hall English.
