To me, there is something palpably disquieting, almost menacing, about the hulk of an abandoned ship. I cannot imagine ever wanting to enter into one to explore. Why is that, I don't know.

Well yes, I can understand that. Underwater I'd feel the same, but then I'm not at my bravest underwater. On land, like the Ydra here, it's more for me the "Ozymandias" effect, with all that effort and hubris sitting there rusting away.
